Goodbye, Laverne Sugamele

posted Apr 30, 2018, 1:15 PM by Douglas Chandler

We say goodbye to one of our original therapists, who opened our Everett First Presbyterian office.  Laverne Sugamele retired from our agency well before I arrived here in 2003.  Despite the time that has passed, I still continue to hear loving references to Laverne.  She has had a lasting impact on CCNPS as well as on the community she served.  Laverne died March 9, 2018, at the age of 85.  Laverne, thank you for blessing us with your years of service and presence.

Thank you to the Presbytery of the Northwest Coast

The Presbytery has been a key partner for our agency since the beginning of CCNPS, with in-kind, spiritual, and financial support.  Over the course of the past few years, the Presbytery has undergone a number of substantial changes.  In the process, they have developed a new format for determining the use of mission support funds, which aligns more with the core mission statement of the Presbytery.
We continue to receive their spiritual and in-kind support as an Endorsed Mission Partner, but will not be receiving dedicated Mission funds from the Presbytery.    We understand and respect the decision of the Presbytery, as well as appreciate the Endorsed Mission Partner status.

We need your help!

We are looking for volunteers:
  • Board of Directors
  • Adjunct (temporary) Board Members for Fundraising
Come help where your time will make a real difference in the lives of those in the community!

Like many non-profit organizations, we are constantly in need of financial support.  It is more true now than ever.  The requirements of providing health care mean that our costs are going up, while contracted fee payments have remained largely flat.  Some key donors have changed the focus of their support, which has hit us hard.    Your donations are tax-deductible.

TRICARE update January 2018

posted Jan 16, 2018, 12:54 PM by Douglas Chandler   [ updated Jan 16, 2018, 12:55 PM ]

We regretfully announce that effective January 1, 2018, we no longer have any providers who are fully contracted, in-network providers for TRICARE.  However, one of our providers, Douglas Chandler, LICSW, has applied to continue to see TRICARE members as an out-of-network/non-contracted provider.  Once approved, he will see TRICARE members on a limited basis as a "Participating Provider".  This allows him to see TRICARE members while limiting the expense to the member.  Contact your TRICARE representative for more information.

We have completed part of our requirements to be able to serve Medicare patients.  The law, as it stands now, only allows PhD psychologists and Social Workers (MSW) to provide mental health counseling/psychological services to Medicare recipients.  Doug Chandler is currently Medicare certified.  Dr. John Ortmeyer hopefully will be certified soon.  Stay tuned!

January, 2018: Gene McConnachie retires from Developmental Disabilities Administration! (DDA)

posted Jan 16, 2018, 12:42 PM by Douglas Chandler   [ updated Mar 8, 2018, 11:21 PM ]

Dr. McConnachie has worked at the State of Washington's Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) for much of his career.  He is well thought of in the community, as a dedicated supported of the community.  He is now more available to work with families, as well as to provide evaluations for Autism. This is particularly helpful as we hear that wait times for evaluations can be as long as a year at other clinics.  We are thrilled to have Dr. McConnachie more available to you.  He can be reached at the Lake Forest Park office.

Starting 1/1/2018, Tricare benefits will be managed by HealthNet Federal Services (HNFS).  We have made the difficult decision not to contract with HNFS for TRICARE.

However, we have to providers who are willing to work with TRICARE as non-contracted "Non-Network Providers".  This means that we may be able to accept TRICARE to help fund therapy, but it may result in a higher cost share for the TRICARE member.  We encourage TRICARE members to contact your TRICARE representative to find out what the costs may be for counseling with Non-Network Providers.   For more information on TRICARE benefits for clients seeing Doug Chandler, CLICK HERE.
